7 Cities To Pop The Question

Valentine's day may be on our heels, but love like diamonds lasts forever. If you spend a great deal of your time scrolling social media you may see an influx of weddings or engagements. You may even be wondering where are some of the best places to get engaged and take those coveted photos to announce to the world that your love is forever. We here at Saveur love love, I mean who doesn't? So we've decided to curate a list of our 7 favourite places to get engaged!

Paris

Paris is one of those places that will always make the list. It may not sit at the top, but you can not have a list of places to celebrate love and not have Paris on it.

Paris offers picturesque monuments and Chateau's to snap the perfect photos. You may not be able to shell out the €1,200,000 for a wedding at Versailles, but you can certainly take some amazing optics in the illuminating palace.

Rome

Italy is a magical destination for a wedding or a proposal. It can be filled with tourists, so proposing will take some planning. My recommendation would be the rooftop bar at the hotel Relais Fontana Di Trevi. It overlooks the Trevi Fountain and would make for a beautiful sunset proposal. Another great area would be The Spanish Steps, in springtime of course. You want the beauty of the flowers along the steps. Honestly, almost anywhere in Rome would make for a great proposal. I've wandered the streets and alleyways and have found beautiful areas in Roma that would create the opportunity to pop-the-question.

Cappadocia, Turkey

We know Turkey has been given the reputation as the place to get hair restoration or teeth like the cast members of Love Island, but it's such a beautiful country. If you're not afraid of heights, why not try proposing in a hot air balloon? And if you or your partner are afraid of heights then you can still pop the question with the hot air balloons as your backdrop at sunrise or sunset. Your love story could be "floating into eternity".

Milos, Greece

We all know and love Santorini and it stands as an amazing place to get hitched or propose; but, sometimes it's great to discover new places. In the Aegean sea is a little island called Milos- surrounded by cerulean and ocean green waters. Proposing on a boat or in the ocean itself would create a magical memory and amazing optics for the gram.

Table Mountain, Cape Town

If you love nature and the serenity of the ocean then try Table Mountain in Cape Town, South Africa. A cable car ride up and the best panoramic views for a proposal. Ocean, meet mountains, meet the happy couple! Also, it's just a great way to travel the continent, exploring nature, luxury and amazing culture. Bonus if you fly over to Kenya and check out Giraffe Manor.

New York, USA

After 7 years in NYC I think one of the most urban romantic places to propose to someone is on the Brooklyn Bridge at sunset. It's absolutely beautiful and after the epic love scene between Steve and Miranda on Sex And The City, how could you not consider a bridge that unites two boroughs. It was designed by John A. Roebling and completed by his wife Emily Warren Roebling in his sickness. If that doesn't signify a love story then I don't know what does. NYC has a plethora of amazing locations to gather instagram worthy photos for a special engagement.

Prague, Czech Republic

Try exploring beautiful Prague. At night the castle is lit up and reflects off the river and makes for a very romantic place to propose.

Prague offers a historical aesthetic to your engagement photos with its Baroque style and Gothic Churches.

Perhaps pop the question with the Astronomical clock as your backdrop. The message is simple, "your love is timeless".
